ND Miata Canards (dive plane)
This model I designed in Solidworks was based on the Verus Engineering Canards (Dive planes) for the ND (4th gen) Mazda Miata. I was able to create a low poly model of my car to do some basic CFD testing on this to show that this model actually created a bit of front end downforce. Printed in Bambu ABS for the final version with some acetone vapor smoothing done to it as well. I modeled some screw holes into this for mounting to the car. The holes fit Stainless Steel Hex-Drive Flat Head Screw, M4 x 0.7 mm Thread Size, 12 mm Long screws with matching washers and nylon lock nuts on the inside of the bumper. Install instructions:Mark holes using the provided holes on the model at your desired location. Use a 11/64" Drill bit to drill through bumper. Make sure not to drill through all layers just one. Take off wheel and DRL assemblies from inside the wheel well. Using the washers and nylon lock nuts, install the canard. USAGE UPDATE: I published this original late January 2026 when I installed this on my vehicle. These have held up well since then (currently April 5, 2026) through many different spirited driving events up to speeds of about 120mph.
